ARTICLE 1: THE RULES
Derived completely from the Dumb Farks Role Playing center

As with life in Role Playing there are a few rules. If you lead a game you have discretion but please keep these rules in mind.
1: GOD MODING
1. Never use an attack and automatically hit the opponent. That quite a few of us consider god modding. Instead, just say the attack shot or that you punched at the opponent.
RIGHT: "DEEEEEEH! Die!" thingy Cheney shoots some shotgun pellets at John Edwards.
WRONG: "EEE HEE! I'll show you the thrilla!" Michael Jackson hits Donny Osmond square in the face with a a 'Hooooooo!' wave.
2. Now for defense. Please don't make your character dodge the attacks ALL the time. That's not fair. Give the opponent a chance. Please get hit in like, at least 1 in 3 attacks and try to make it do a little damage in the other 2 attacks.
RIGHT: John Edwards dodged quite a bit of the attack, but was hit partially in the arm. "Not bad thingyman!" Edwards says.
WRONG: Donny Osmond completely dodges the attack like it had no power whatsoever. "Man j00 sux..." Donny osmond says.
3. Use proper grammar. It is a great way to determine the attack. If you use proper grammar, your attack can work on NPC's or other OC's partially. please try to use correct grammar at all times.
RIGHT: Jason launches a Matrix wave at Mean Joe. "Take my Matrix moves you little spoiled brat!" Jason says.
WRONG: Joe shots a richbiatch powr wav @ Jason. "j00 cant ween! Im RICH BIATCH!"
That's all we have for now really. PLEASE abide by these rules, as they help sanitize our RPGS that we enjoy so much....One more thing...I think we all know not to do this..but one more time...
NO INSTANT DEATH ATTACKS >: O
Of course instant death can occur with what are called NPCs or non player characters. A robot of Slade's or some minion ninja wannabe punk can and should die instantly. The leader or players can introduce NPCs and kill them off at thier leisure.
2: The Locus of Control Rule.
A big name for a simple rule...you may not post actions for another player. Please let people speak and do things on their own. Please wait for them to move. You can post for another player if you have their permission of course or if they agree to the action. (It's common sense to PM them first, however..) An exception to this is the owner's character Dan Advanced, in this case go 'head and act him out ONLY in RPGs he is involved in.
3: Posting and Politeness.
Please post as often as you can and be patient. Try to avoid dropping out of a game all of the sudden - if you want to roleplay and people are available set aside some time. If you must drop out....post and let your players know.
4: Multiple Personality Rule.
You can talk out of character but use this format and keep it brief.
((I have to leave - the cat has thrown up on the sofa!))
Wrap the comment in the double parentheses and use white text....a simple convention to save trouble.
Do not overuse this by using it with every post. If you want to talk to another player use instant messaging or the PM service of the board.
5: The Ask First Rule.
If you want to borrow ideas from another role playing campaign - GREAT! Please ask the person who started that campaign if you can use some of their ideas. Usually this isn't a problem but ask first to be polite since it is their imaginative ideas.
6: God Mode
Do not make your character a god. I have noticed that most of the characters on the Shrine are invincible. Do your best to avoid this. Nobody's a god.
7: Old RPGs
Please don't post in old RPGs that are like in the end of the RPG section; it screws up the continuity and perhaps even lead to it's locked end.
8: Blackmail
By blackmail I mean "spot out a particular scene in some RPG and torture other members of the board endlessly about it". DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES blackmail anyone or torture them because of some controversial or related scene in an RPG. Or otherwise your RPG goes the way of the dinosaurs, if you know what I mean.
ThePolitenessRule!
Rule of politeness! Alright guys..no one likes being buried by useless junk..so heres one proposition.. if its the same two people for 15 posts(1 page) they MUST stop and wait for another person to post ofr at least a day. Fair, no? Cuz getting piled up by two people putting a bunch of crap is not very good...moving on then..
ARTICLE 2: HOW TO ROLE PLAY
Thanks to Bruce Hayes....the Master
In roleplaying on a message board you will find yourself in two kinds of games:
The open or free game where characters come and go and there is no structured plot. You can have tons of fun or end up in a pointless quagmire where nothing happens except drivelly talk.
The structured game where there is usually a fixed cast of characters and they roleplay a scenario. If you play a structured game you probably will have a storyteller or a game master (GM). The guy who started the thread usually does this but you can select anyone you think tells a good story.
He's not the boss but he guides the story so it makes sense for the players.
The open or free games can have fun aspects but often become frustrating after a while because they lack anything to excite the players or the players become bored with playing Teen Titans watching scary movies on TV.
New people often begin with an open game since they are easy to join and easy to play. Structured games may require thought and planning as well as an ability to anticipate what a fellow character will (or often will not do).
I recommend that people gather a group and set up a private game Groups of 3 to 6 works best so everyone can have a chance. Big groups get unwieldy and small groups become boring. The best way to start is to have the person who began the thread guide the game and the characters introduce each other.
The leader of the group or GM should also post the kind of game. A good action game should be quick, posts should be brief and not so wordy. A more epic game might have much longer posts, describing dreams or the plots of supervillians and their machines of doom. Set your own style.
Even in private structured games be inclusive of others. If you have room let anyone join. As long as you state that you only want a certain number of people then post when you are full. They can begin their own threads if they want.
Have fun with it...make legends!
ARTICLE 3: BUILDING A CHARACTER
Of course you'll need a character. You can play a trashbin but your actions in the world will be limited to accepting refuse and the odd changing of your bag.
Character Templates
The tights of justice - itchy - I think we've covered that - The Tick
1: I will use a similar format as the Raven Shrine so people can transfer their characters (cut and paste or just link to that board)
2: If the board grows big I will try to organize these posts by groups that play together if there is enough demand. It makes searching for a character easier.
Character Template:
FULL NAME: (Name, last name, middle name, etc)
CODENAME/ NICKNAME: (If there is one)
AGE: (Realistic... hopefully. According to Mike, the default age is 19)
GENDER: (Male or female)

WEAKNESS: (Include a good one)
AFFILIATION: (Whose side are they on?)
APPEARANCE: (What do they wear? Be sure to link to a picture if ya have one)
WEAPON(S): (Sharp pointy objects, to things that go boom!)
PERSONALITY: (What are they like?)
FAMILY: (Give em some credit too, if they have any!)
HISTORY: (Where'd they come from? How'd they get to be the way they are?)
EYE COLOR: (..seems Irrelevant if you've got a picture.)
HAIR COLOR: (Natural <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=24&k=hair%20color" onmouseover="window.status='hair color'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">hair color</a>, that is)
NATIONALITY: (What country are they from?)
OTHER: (Stuff that doesn't fit in any of these categories.)
ARTICLE 4: Rules on Private Roleplaying
If you wish to make an RPG that is only between you and some friends then here are the rules...
1) The private RPG MUST have "private" written in the title of the RPG.
2) There must be at least 3 people replying to the private rpg... sorry but 2 people isnt enough I'm afraid ^^;;
3) Write the names of who are in the private rpg on the first post. if people reply in your private rpg and ignore your private sign , then contact an admin and things will be dealt with ^0^. Don't worry, there won't be banning unless the admin is in a good mood.
